Daniel B. Hurwitz is the President & Chief Executive Officer of DDR, a position he assumed on January 1, 2010. He had served as President & Chief Operating Officer of the Company from May 2007 through December 2009, as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer from May 2005 to May 2007, and as Executive Vice President from June 1999 through April 2005. Mr. Hurwitz joined the Company's Board of Directors in June 2009, and previously served on the board from May 2002 to May 2004. Mr. Hurwitz is responsible for developing, refining and executing DDR's corporate strategy, policies, goals and objectives. This role is accountable for company performance and reports to the Board of Directors. Also, he is a member of the Company's executive, management, investment and enterprise risk management committees.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Hurwitz served as Senior Vice President and Director of Real Estate and Corporate Development for Boscov's Department Store, Inc. Prior to Boscov's, Mr. Hurwitz served as Development Director for the Shopco Group, a New York City-based developer and acquirer of regional and super regional shopping malls.
Mr. Hurwitz is a graduate of Colgate University and the Wharton School of Business Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a frequent speaker at real estate industry functions, including the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).
Professionally, Mr. Hurwitz is a member of the Sonae Sierra Brasil board of directors, a member of ICSC, a member of the ICSC Board of Trustees Executive Committee and a member of the ICSC Political Action and Government Relations Committees. He is also a member of the NAREIT Board of Governors.
Additionally, Mr. Hurwitz is a member of the Colgate University Board of Trustees, a member of the Board of Trustees of Hawken School, a member of the Leadership Council for the Neurological Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He has also served as Vice Chairman of the Urban Land Institute CRC Blue Council, co-chair of the ICSC Open Air Committee, a member of the Board of Regents for the University System of Ohio, the Board of Directors of the Colgate University Alumni Corporation and Colgate University Maroon Council, CubeSmart (NYSE: CUBE), Boscov's Department Store, Inc., The Network, Applewood Centers and the Cleveland Children's Museum.
Paul W. Freddo is the Senior Executive Vice President of Leasing & Development, a position he assumed in December 2008. He joined DDR as Senior Vice President of Development - Western Region in August 2008.He oversees the leasing, development, redevelopment and expansion, retail partnerships, development leasing, peripheral development and anchor store leasing departments within the Company. In addition, Mr. Freddo serves on the Company's executive, investment, management, internal compensation and enterprise risk committees. Mr. Freddo is also a member of the Sonae Sierra Brasil Board of Directors.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Freddo served as Vice President and Director of Real Estate for JCPenney.
Mr. Freddo holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Adelphi University. His professional and civic activities include being a Trustee for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and serving on the Board of Directors for The Network.
John S. Kokinchak is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of DDR, a position he assumed in February 2011. He had served as Senior Executive Vice President of Property Management for DDR since March 2010. He had also served as Executive Vice President of Property Management for DDR since March 2008, Senior Vice President of Property Management since 2006, and joined the Company as Vice President of Property Management, Specialty Centers in August 2004.
An industry veteran, Mr. Kokinchak oversees the property management, marketing & corporate communications, new business development, information technology, facilities management and office services departments. He also serves on the Company's executive, enterprise risk management, internal compensation and management committees.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Kokinchak served as Vice President of Property Management for Prizm Asset Management Company, and held positions with the Shopco Group and Simon Property Group.
In addition to being a senior certified shopping center manager, Mr. Kokinchak also holds the designation of senior certified leasing specialist.
Mr. Kokinchak is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Fusion Conference planning committee, and serves as the chairman of the CSM Admissions and Governing committee. Mr. Kokinchak is a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Reserve Historical Society and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition he serves on the certified leasing specialist test and certified shopping center manager committees. In 2008 and 2009 he served as the Dean for the ICSC University of Shopping Centers' School of Open Air Centers.
David J. Oakes is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a position he assumed in February 2010. Prior to that, he served as Senior Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Investment Officer since December 2008. Mr. Oakes joined DDR as Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Investment Officer in April 2007.Mr. Oakes oversees the Company's capital markets, transactions, budgeting, tax, investor relations, funds management, property and corporate accounting, audit, external reporting, corporate governance and employee compensation and benefits functions. He serves on the Company's executive, compensation, enterprise risk and management committees, and chairs the investment committee. Mr. Oakes is also a member of the Sonae Sierra Brasil Board of Directors.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Oakes served as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Cohen & Steers Capital Management. In his role, he oversaw the firm's global and international real estate securities portfolios for the oldest and largest dedicated real estate securities fund manager. Previously he worked as a Research Analyst in global investment research at Goldman Sachs, where he covered U.S. REITs.
Mr. Oakes earned his bachelor's degree at Washington University in St. Louis and is a CFA charterholder. He is a member of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the New York Society of Securities Analysts. Mr. Oakes also serves on the board of The Gathering Place, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by cancer.
Mark Bratt is the Executive Vice President & Chief Investment Officer of DDR, a position he assumed in July 2010. Mr. Bratt is responsible for recommending and implementing DDR's investing strategy for the acquisition of properties that meet the Company's parameters. He is also responsible for directing our disposition efforts and initiating relationships with new institutional capital partners. Mr. Bratt also serves on the Company's executive and investment committees.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Bratt served as Executive Director, acquisitions and portfolio management for Morgan Stanley Real Estate. Mr. Bratt's additional previous industry experience includes serving as Principal, Acquisitions for Lend Lease Real Estate Investments; Director of Asset Management for Amresco Advisors; and Vice President for Prentiss Properties. He has invested in over $2.1 billion of properties and sold $600 million of properties in his career.
Mr. Bratt is a graduate of the University of California, earning a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of California - Berkeley, and a master's of business administration from the University of California Los Angeles. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Pension Real Estate Association.
Richard E. Brown is the Executive Vice President of International, a position he assumed in October 2006. In this role, Mr. Brown is responsible for managing DDR's interest in Brazil. He is currently located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, working as an officer of Sonae Sierra Brasil. Mr. Brown is also a member of DDR's executive committee. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Brown had served as Executive Vice President of Real Estate Operations since October 2005, responsible for overseeing property management, property accounting, information technology, joint venture relations and risk management.
From March 2002 to October 2005, Mr. Brown served as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Operations, and prior to that as Senior Vice President of Asset Management and Operations. Mr. Brown joined DDR in January 2000.
A shopping center veteran prior to joining DDR, Mr. Brown served as Vice President of Asset Management for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based PREIT. Prior to his tenure with PREIT, Mr. Brown served as Vice President of Retail Asset Management for The Balcor Company, located in Chicago.
Mr. Brown is a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, is a Chartered Accountant (Canada) and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
James J. Farrell is the Executive Vice President of Development and Redevelopment, a position he assumed in July 2011. In this role, Mr. Farrell is responsible for redevelopment and development opportunities within the portfolio to enhance the overall quality of the Company's prime assets. He is also responsible for all Construction, Tenant Coordination and Development Partnership functions within the organization. Mr. Farrell joined DDR as Senior Vice President of Redevelopment & Expansions in May of 2010. Mr. Farrell serves on the Company's executive committee. Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Farrell was Senior Vice President Development at Joseph Freed and Associates, where he managed both development and redevelopment initiatives. Before that, Mr. Farrell held roles of increasing responsibility with Westfield, Urban Retail Properties Company, and Homart Development Company.
Mr. Farrell received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University and his Master of Arts in Urban Planning from Northeastern Illinois University. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Mark S. Floyd is the Executive Vice President of Employment, a position he assumed in January 2012. In this role, Mr. Floyd is responsible for recruitment, development and retention efforts and execution of the Company's strategic plan as it relates to human capital. Mr. Floyd serves on the Company's executive, enterprise risk management and IT steering committees. Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Floyd served as a partner of Ulmer & Berne and co-chair of the firm's employment and labor law group.
Mr. Floyd serves and has served on numerous charitable and civic boards including The Urban League of Greater Cleveland, The Cleveland Ballet, and The Cleveland Institute of Music; and committees of The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland State University.
Mr. Floyd received his bachelor of arts from Stanford University and is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law.
Christa A. Vesy is the Executive Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer, a position she assumed in March 2012. In this role, Ms. Vesy oversees the property and corporate accounting and financial reporting functions for DDR. Previously Ms. Vesy served as Senior Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer since November 2006. She has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2006.Prior to joining DDR, Ms. Vesy worked for The Lubrizol Corporation, where she served as manager of external financial reporting and then as controller for the lubricant additives business segment. Prior to joining Lubrizol, from 1993 to September 2004, Ms. Vesy held various positions with the Assurance and Business Advisory Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, a registered public accounting firm, including Senior Manager from 1999 to September 2004.
Ms. Vesy graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Ms. Vesy is a certified public accountant (CPA) and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). She also serves on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland.
Robin R. Walker-Gibbons is the Executive Vice President of Leasing, a position she assumed in October 2005. Ms. Walker-Gibbons joined DDR in April 1995 as a leasing manager in the Company's Charlotte, North Carolina office, and in November of that same year was promoted to Vice President of Leasing and relocated to the Company's Cleveland headquarters. Ms. Walker-Gibbons was further promoted to Senior Vice President of Leasing for the Southeast Region in March 2005. Ms. Walker-Gibbons is a national account manager responsible for deal-making, enhancing and maintaining relationships with national retailers and focusing on emerging retail trends. Ms. Walker-Gibbons serves on the Company's executive and women's initiative committees.
Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Walker-Gibbons was President of Aroco, Inc., a retail brokerage and tenant representation firm based in Alabama.
Ms. Walker-Gibbons is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). She was also the Associate Dean of the ICSC University of Shopping Centers' School of Leasing from March 2006 through March 2007 and served for one year as Dean of the ICSC University of Shopping Centers' School of Leasing, her term ended in March 2008.
She is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) of Cleveland. In 2008, Ms. Walker-Gibbons was recognized by Real Estate Forum magazine as a 'Woman of Influence' in the commercial real estate industry.
David E. Weiss is Executive Vice President & General Counsel, a position he assumed in 2010. He had been Senior Vice President since 2006, and General Counsel since 2003. His management of the legal aspects of the Company's day-to-day operations includes real estate, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, litigation, commercial financing transactions, insurance and risk management and general corporate matters. Mr. Weiss is a member of the Company's executive and enterprise risk management committees and serves as corporate secretary.Before joining DDR in 1999, Mr. Weiss was a partner with the law firm McDonald, Hopkins, Burke & Haber Co., LPA, in Cleveland.
A former council member for the City of Shaker Heights, Mr. Weiss is a member of the 2004 class of Leadership Cleveland, past president of Family Connections, and former member of the Visiting Committee of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In addition, he presently serves on the Board of the Center for Families and Children and is a member of the Law Committee for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Mr. Weiss also is a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL).
Mr. Weiss received his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of The Ohio State University's College of Law. He is a member of the Cleveland and American Bar Associations, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and ICSC.
David C. Dieterle is a Senior Vice President of Leasing, overseeing domestic assets primarily in the South and West, a position he assumed in September 2011. From October 2005 to September 2011 he served as Senior Vice President of Leasing Southern Region. Mr. Dieterle joined DDR in 2002 as Senior Leasing Director for the Western Region. He has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2005. Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Dieterle was Vice President of Business Development for BAA USA Inc., where he was accountable for the acquisition of airport retail management, development and leasing contracts. He began his career in property management at Kravco, a King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based shopping center management and development company.
Mr. Dieterle is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and a graduate of Ursinus College, earning a degree in political science.
Steven M. Dorsky is the Senior Vice President of Leasing for the Northeastern Region at DDR, overseeing the leasing of assets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England, a position he assumed in September 2011. From November 1995 to March 2005 he served as Vice President of Leasing. From March 2005 to September 2011 he served as Senior Vice President of Leasing Northern Region. Mr. Dorsky is a member of the Company's executive committee. Prior to joining the Company, he was an Assistant Vice President and Senior Leasing Associate for Cleveland-based Hausman Companies.
Mr. Dorsky earned a bachelor of arts in business from Macalester College and a master's degree in social administration from Case Western Reserve University's School of Applied Social Science. Mr. Dorsky is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Christopher H. Erb is the Senior Vice President of Development, a position he assumed in January 2012. Previously he served as Vice President of Redevelopment Eastern Region since July 2011, Vice President of Development Southern Region since March 2008, Senior Development Director since March 2007, and other positions of increasing responsibility with DDR since he joined the Company in 2001. He is a graduate of the Company's industry leading Management Training Program and has been a member of the company's executive committee since 2008.Mr. Erb is responsible for overseeing all redevelopment and development activity throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
Mr. Erb is a graduate of Colgate University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in international relations, and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is active in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce, civic leadership programs Summer on the Cuyahoga and Colgate on the Cuyahoga, where he also serves as Treasurer. In addition, he serves as a member of the Business Advisory Committee for Cuyahoga Community College.
David J. Favorite is the Senior Vice President of Property Management, a position he assumed in February 2009. Mr. Favorite joined DDR in 2003 as Vice President of Operations. In 2005 he became Vice President of Property Management, Community Centers.Mr. Favorite oversees the day-to-day operations of all domestic shopping centers, which includes maintenance, capital improvements and enforcement of tenants' lease obligations. He is also responsible for creating all operating procedures and policies while maintaining responsibility for compliance. Mr. Favorite serves on the Company's executive committee.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Favorite held property management positions with the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation and Forest City Commercial Management, where he served as Vice President of Operations for the last 15 years of his 20-year tenure with the company.
Mr. Favorite graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor of science in marketing. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), is a former State of Ohio ICSC Operations Manager, and previously served on the ICSC CSM Committee. He is on the Board of Trustees for Benedictine High School. He also recently served on the facilities committee for the Cleveland-area Ronald McDonald House.
Marc Feldman is the Senior Vice President of New Business Development for DDR, a position he assumed in July 2009. Mr. Feldman had been Vice President of New Business Development since April 2008 and Director of Strategic Partnerships since August 2007, when he joined DDR. He has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2008.In this role, Mr. Feldman oversees the new business development department. His department handles numerous lines of business, including managing the Company's cart and kiosk program and leasing real estate to tenants on a temporary or seasonal basis. Mr. Feldman's group also oversees emerging opportunities, such as the Company's solar power program, wireless technologies relationships and the advertising and sponsorship initiatives within DDR's portfolio. His department also recently introduced the Strategic Business Partner Program, which is designed to help other shopping center owners launch an ancillary income program.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Feldman was a Corporate Sales Executive for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he secured sponsorships with blue chip companies such as UPS, Cadillac, Bacardi, Safe Auto Insurance and Cleveland.com.
Mr. Feldman holds a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and a juris doctor degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is a member of the Ohio and Illinois Bar Associations, and serves on the board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. In 2008, he was recognized as one of "Forty under 40" by Crain's Cleveland Business, which recognizes future leaders in Northeast Ohio.
Marc Hays is a Senior Vice President of Leasing, overseeing domestic assets primarily in the Northeast and Midwest, a position he assumed in September 2011. Previously he served as Senior Vice President of Leasing International and Specialty Centers from January 2010 to September 2011, as Senior Vice President of Leasing Specialty Centers from March 2006 to January 2010, Vice President of Leasing Specialty Centers from March 2004 through March 2006, and as Director from November 2002 through March 2004. He has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2006.Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Hays served as Real Estate Manager for Talbots. Prior to Talbots, Mr. Hays held various real estate positions with Borders, The Jacobs Group and General Growth Properties.
Mr. Hays is a graduate of John Carroll University. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Cleveland YMCA.
William J. Kern is the Senior Vice President of Retail Partnerships, a position he assumed in March 2011. He previously served as Vice President of Retail Partnerships since January 2010, as Vice President of Acquisitions & Dispositions since 2009 and Vice President of Development Site Acquisitions from 2007 to 2009. He is a graduate of the Company's industry leading Management Training Program. Mr. Kern joined DDR in 2002 and has been a member of the company's executive committee since 2007.Mr. Kern is responsible for managing and coordinating the Company's National Accounts program, serves as a liaison between DDR's Leasing and Funds Management departments and leads the leasing-oriented diligence efforts for all Capital Transactions activity.
Mr. Kern is a graduate of Colgate University, earning a bachelor of arts in economics, and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Summer on the Cuyahoga, a civic leadership program. In 2007, he was recognized as one of "Twenty in their 20's" by Crain's Cleveland Business, which recognizes future leaders in Northeast Ohio.
Kevin Kessinger is the Senior Vice President of Funds Management, a position he assumed in March 2012. He previously served as Vice President of Funds Management since March 2009 and Associate General Counsel prior to that time. He joined DDR in 2003 and has been a member of the company's executive committee since 2005.Mr. Kessinger oversees the management, operations and transactional activity of the Company's investment funds and other ventures and partnerships. His team functions as the primary liaison among DDR's private equity sources and its various operating departments. In addition, Mr. Kessinger works with the Company's investors and partners to develop and execute property-level and portfolio strategies, including acquisitions, dispositions, redevelopments and capital market transactions.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Kessinger practiced at McDonald Hopkins, a mid-sized, corporate law firm in Cleveland, Ohio. His practice focused on real estate, finance and general corporate matters. He counseled clients on a wide range of matters relating to the financing, acquisition, development, construction, leasing and disposition of retail, office and industrial properties. He also represented national and regional lenders and commercial borrowers in connection with the negotiation and documentation of commercial, real estate, asset-based and mezzanine loan transactions.
Mr. Kessinger is a graduate of The University of Akron, earning a bachelor of arts in political science, and holds his juris doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA).
Timothy J. Lordan is the Senior Vice President of Investor Relations & Funds Management, a position he assumed in April 2011. Previously he served as Senior Vice President of Funds Management from March 2009 to April 2011, and Vice President of Funds Management from July 2007 to March 2009. Mr. Lordan has been a member of the company's executive committee since he joined the company in 2007.In his role, he oversees the management, operations and transactional activity of the Company's institutional investment funds, and is responsible for working with DDR's institutional investors to develop and execute business strategies. He is also responsible for DDR's investor relations strategy and outreach.
Mr. Lordan has eight years' experience in corporate finance and investor relations, including five years with The Rouse Company, where he was Vice President and Director, Investor Relations. Prior to that, he worked for 10 years at KPMG, where he specialized in real estate transactions and REIT accounting. During his career, Mr. Lordan has worked with major real estate entities raising capital through private placements and public equity and debt offerings.
Mr. Lordan is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds a bachelor of science in accounting from Mount Saint Mary's University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Mr. Lordan has previously served as Treasurer and Director of the Arc of Howard County Maryland, Director of The Columbia Foundation, and as a Trustee of the Trinity School in Ilchester, Maryland.
Kevin Moss is the Senior Vice President of Information Technology, a position he assumed in December 2008. Mr. Moss brings a business approach to the leadership of technology initiatives. He is responsible for driving innovation through strategic investments in software and infrastructure, aligning interdepartmental goals, and leveraging technology to empower business units and enable them to improve their performance and profitability. Mr. Moss serves on the Company's executive, enterprise risk management and IT steering committees.
He previously worked for GGP. His career there spanned 22 years and included various property management positions at the property and regional levels, as well as serving as the company's first Chief Information Officer. Most recently he held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations for GGP International.
Mr. Moss has a degree in business administration from Drake University. He is a Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM) and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Luke Petherbridge is the Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, a position he assumed in December 2011. In this role, Mr. Petherbridge is primarily responsible for capital raising, actively managing the balance sheet and maintaining strong lender relationships. He has been a member of the Company's executive committee since joining DDR in 2011 and is a member of the Company's enterprise risk management committee. Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Petherbridge was the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of shopping center owner EDT Retail Trust (formerly Macquarie DDR Trust), a company which had been publicly traded on the Australian Stock Exchange and previously managed in a joint venture between DDR and Macquarie Group. Before that, Mr. Petherbridge served as Director of Transactions with boutique real estate investment company Rubicon Asset Management. While in this role, Mr. Petherbridge worked on transactions focusing on United States, European and Japanese real estate and real estate structured finance.
Mr. Petherbridge holds his bachelor of commerce from Macquarie University. He is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Craig A. Schultz is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Finance & Tax, a position he assumed in July 2009. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Tax for DDR in March 2009. Previously he served as Vice President of Tax since March 2005 and Director of Tax since November 2002. He has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2005.In his role, he is responsible for the long-term strategic financial model utilized in analyzing the Company's operational and capital markets initiatives. Mr. Schultz's additional responsibilities include the overall management of the tax function which encompasses strategic structural tax planning, implementing business initiatives, tax accounting and reporting, and tax compliance, as well as employee compensation and benefits.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Schultz worked for 10 years at Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Tax Manager, specializing in partnership taxation, with an emphasis on real estate tax matters.
Mr. Schultz holds a master's degree in taxation from the University of Akron and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Trusts (NAREIT), The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA).
Kenneth L. Stern is the Senior Vice President of Peripheral Development, a position he assumed in March 2009. He joined DDR in September 1995 as Director of Leasing Northeast. He was promoted to Director of Peripheral Development in October 1999 and then to Vice President of Peripheral Development in March 2005. In his role, he oversees the Company's portfolio of excess land and generates new income from the sale, ground leases or creation of multi-tenant buildings on the pads of the Company's shopping centers. Mr. Stern serves on the Company's executive committee.
Prior to joining DDR, Mr. Stern was Director of Retail Leasing for CMS Companies, a wealth management and real estate investment firm based in Philadelphia. He was also Leasing Manager for the Core Group, a real estate investment and development company based in New York City and Philadelphia.
Mr. Stern graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of science from the Smeal College of Business. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Anthony Vodicka is the Senior Vice President of Leasing for the West Region, a position he assumed in March 2005. He is responsible for overseeing leasing activities in over 10 states. Mr. Vodicka had served as Vice President of Leasing for the Western Region since March 2002 and prior to that, as Assistant Vice President of Leasing for the Midwest Region and as Regional Leasing Manager. Mr. Vodicka has been a member of the Company's executive committee since 2002. Prior to joining DDR in October 1999, Mr. Vodicka was a Leasing Representative for the Richard E. Jacobs Group, a Cleveland-based shopping center management company.
Mr. Vodicka is a graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, where he earned a bachelor's degree in management and marketing. Mr. Vodicka is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Bryan P. Zabell is the Senior Vice President of Anchor Store Leasing, a position he assumed in March 2011. He had served as Senior Vice President of Leasing Anchor Store Redevelopment since July 2009. Before that he served as Vice President of Leasing Anchor Store Redevelopment since September 2008 and Vice President of Leasing Caribbean Properties from 2005 to 2008, where he was responsible for leasing the Company's five-million square-foot retail portfolio in Puerto Rico. Additionally, Mr. Zabell was one of the original participants and a graduate of the Company's industry-leading Management Training Program. Mr. Zabell joined DDR in 2001 and has been a member of the Company's executive committee since March 2008.Mr. Zabell is responsible for overseeing the leasing efforts for all spaces larger than 20,000 square feet within DDR's portfolio. Additional responsibilities include leasing efforts for Puerto Rico as well as a focus on business matters relating to big box retailer bankruptcies. In this capacity, he has participated on the unsecured creditors committee for two bankrupt retailers: Mervyns Department Stores and Circuit City.
Mr. Zabell is a graduate of the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Beachwood, Ohio.
