CLEVELAND, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleveland based Developers Diversified Realty Corporation (NYSE: DDR)("DDR") today announced that the Promenade at Brentwood received the 1998 Missouri Treescape Award for Commericial Properties. The Promenade at Brentwood was developed by Sansone Group of St. Louis, Missouri and is currently leased and managed by Sansone Group through an operating joint venture with Developers Diversified, the center's owner.

Awards were given in ten categories this year at ceremonies in Runge Conservation Nature Center in Jefferson City, MO. Mrs. Jean Carnahan, wife of Governor Mel Carnahan and Department of Conservation Director Jerry Conley presented the award to Jim Sansone, Principal, Executive Vice President/General Council of Sansone Group. "We are extremely pleased to have received this award and will display this plaque in a prominant place at our office," he said. "It recognizes development that goes the extra step to ensure an aesthetically pleasing environment."

Since 1976, The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has annually awarded the Missouri Treescape Award recognizing excellence in enhancing Missouri's urban landscapes. The award is given in twelve categories ranging from commercial and industrial properties to entire cities. To qualify, the project must significantly enhance the beauty of the community involved.

Tim Frevert, Missouri Treescape Awards coordinator for the MDC said the awards are for planted trees which will have lasting impact on Missouri towns of all sizes. "We encourage our award winners to develop programs to care for their new trees as well as their existing trees. This ongoing work will insure healthy, attractive trees for the future." Past winners in the commercial and industrial categories are Carondelet Plant in St. Louis, and Top of the Rock Golf Course in Branson.
